Summer Advising and Course Registration
The Department of Psychology is excited to welcome our newest Hokies! Virtual Academic Advising and Course Registration is one of the most important parts of your transition to college. This is where you will learn about life as a Hokie, obtain very important information for your success, and meet with your academic advisor to enroll in classes for the fall semester.

Virtual Academic Advising and Course Registration for
Fall Semester
1. WATCH the following video to prepare for your upcoming advising appointment:
2. As a reminder, if you have not done so already, visit the Summer Academic Advising webpage. Please focus especially on Steps 3 and 4, which start about halfway down the page, and instruct you to download, fill out, and upload the Expected Courses/Credits Worksheet. Do this, and upload any college transcripts, AT LEAST ONE WEEK BEFORE your advising appointment. Note: You must be logged into your VT email when uploading these files.
3. You will be receiving emails from your primary academic advisor in psychology. The emails will direct you to register for a few specific required courses (do this in June; the earliest you will be able to register is June 12), and schedule an appointment with your primary academic advisor. Registering for courses will be done through a system called Hokie Scheduler. Please watch the Timetable of Classes and Hokie videos on this helpful website.
4. Hokie Scheduler does not automatically register you for courses. Please make sure that in Hokie Scheduler, you send the courses to your shopping cart, and then click Register. See screenshots here.
5. Be sure to check out the Psychology Major Checksheet here.
6. Bookmark the Virginia Tech Psychology Student Handbook (coming soon) and the webpage for psychology majors.
7. Please follow our Instagram here and/or our Facebook here to receive Psychology Advising updates.
1. Everything you need to start registering for fall courses and to prepare for you meeting with your academic advisor can be found at the Summer Academic Advising webpage.
2. You can find a very useful "to do" list and helpful links from Student Affairs here and here.
3. Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) provides accommodations to students on a case-by-case basis. SSD offers a host of accommodations, including classroom accommodations, accommodations for deaf and hard of hearing students, the SSD testing center, note-takers, alternate text, and housing accommodations. Students who wish to receive accommodations must register with SSD. If you received accomodations at your previous institution, you may want to contact SSD to see what services are available to you.
